Visit the Aviz team

On Monday 13th of January afternoon Aviz organizes a visit for Master students to give them the opportunity to take a quick look at Aviz's current research and, for those who are interested, to discuss possible internship opportunities. You can get a good overview of what we are doing on the Project page.

Signing Up

You need to be signed up by Thursday 9th of january 5PM to participate.

The visit will consist in two parts, both of which are optional:

  • Demos, where some of the Aviz researchers will show their work to small groups of students,
  • Individual meetings on possible internship opportunities. See below for more information.

Use this link to sign up to demos and/or meetings. Please provide a valid e-mail, because we may e-mail you a more precise schedule later on.

Schedule

Monday 18th of December 2013 afternoon.

  • 13:30 - 15:15 - Demos (student groups)
  • 15:20 - 17:00 - Internship meetings (individual students)

How to come

  • From the PUIO building:
  • From elsewhere, see here.
  • The Aviz team is located in the Digiteo Moulon building, number 660. This building is located right next to its sister building the PCRI / LRI building, number 650, which is easy to recognize from far -- see picture above: the Digiteo Moulon building is just to the left, not visible on the photo. PCRI stands for Pôle Commun de Recherche en Informatique and LRI stands for Laboratoire de Recherche en Informatique.

Because our building has a restricted access policy, a member of the team will wait downstairs in the lobby at 13:30 to meet visitors and escort them to our space.

Internship Meetings

These meetings will allow students who are interested in doing an internship in Aviz to discuss their topic with the internship supervisors for about 15-20 minutes. This is only an initial discussion, there can be more extended discussions in the future in case there is a good match.

We suggest you to e-mail your CV to the the topic supervisor(s) right after you sign up. Before Monday think a bit about the topic and what you would be excited to do: topics are vague on purpose and somehow open. Also bring your laptop or a book, because you may have to wait for a little while.

We expect most students to declare interest in one among the topics proposed, but you can also possibly sign up for one extra topic, and even propose your own topic if you gave it a serious thought (or if we talked about it with you beforehand). In case you propose your own topic, please send us the details by e-mail early enough, including whom you would like to be supervised by (see list of Aviz researchers and their work here).

List of Internship Topics

Each of these topics can lead to a 3-year PhD thesis on a related or non-related topic, depending on available funding and the candidate's quality (for more information see the jobs page).
