Wall Perception Study

Purpose of the Experiment

Really large wall-sized displays-as in the picture above-allow us to show a lot of information at once in one visualization. However, exactly how to design information visualizations for these walls is a difficult research question. In this experiment we try to gather a better understanding of how human's perceptual and cognitive capabilities are affected by looking at information on our big wall display. Specifically, we want to understand how viewing information on the wall is affected by different visual angles. In the experiment you will help us by judging different information on the wall when standing at different distances from the wall.

Participation Requirements

  • You should be able to stand for stretches of about 20mins at a time (3x with breaks).
  • If you need glasses or contacts, you need to bring them to the experiment

What you will gain

  • A big piece of chocolate for your participation
  • More importantly: an understanding of how seeing information on the wall is affected by your viewing position

Book a time

We are currently looking for participants for Friday the 17th
